OTTAWA, ON: This Hockey Night in Canada matchup might have been one of the Leafs' best performances all year, including some outstanding performances coming from Nazem Kadri, Joffrey Lupul, and James Reimer.
The game started off with a quick power-play goal coming from Joffrey Lupul. Lupul has been a scoring machine since coming back from injury. The game then had some penalties and a bunch of fights, coming from Sens' Matt Kassian. Leafs' Frazer McLaren also put up a fight.
The rest of the game would be Leafs' goalie James Reimer stopping shots, in fact he would stop all 33 shots, and a 3-consecutive goal scoring affair coming from Leafs' Nazem Kadri.
By the time it was 4-0 and Kadri locked up his 2nd career hat-trick, it was pretty much done. The game concluded with Kadri having 4 points (3 goals, 1 assist) and Lupul also having 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists). Reimer had his shutout and the Leafs tied with the Senators with 44 points. The Buffalo Sabres have practically locked up last place in the Northeast division.
Around The East
The Montreal Canadiens defeated the New York Rangers in Montreal, and are fighting the Boston Bruins for top spot in the division, meanwhile the Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators are in the middle, both in playoff spot. Close behind them in the Eastern Conference are the New York Rangers and New York Islanders. The Winnipeg Jets and Carolina Hurricanes are also trying for playoff spot. The Florida teams, Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lighting, are both currently down at the bottom of the East with the Philadelphia Flyers and Buffalo Sabres. The Washington Capitals are right behind the Carolina Hurricanes. The top team in the East and NHL is the the Pittsburgh Penguins, who just acquired Jarome Iginla last week.
