EDMONTON, AB: The Canucks were favourites coming into Edmonton, with a 6-game winning streak, mainly due to goalie Cory Schneider, but anything can happen in the NHL.
16 seconds in, Oilers' Taylor Hall beats Cory Schneider top shelf. 1-0 Oilers. Around 2 minutes later, Smid beats Schneider. 2-0 Oilers.
Schneider was then pulled, saving no shots at all, and giving up 2 goals. Roberto Luongo comes in, and gets best by Taylor Hall. 3-0 Oilers and Hall's 2nd of the game. A little later, on the power-play, the Oilers score another one! 4-0 Oilers. Taylor Hall gets his hatty, and beats one of Gretzky's old franchise records, "fastest hat trick to start a game", as Hall scored it 7 minutes in.
That would be the last time someone scored, as the Oilers hung on to beat the Canucks 4-0 and give Taylor Hall his hat trick and franchise record. Devan Dubynk also got a shutout.
THE SAME?
This is awkwardly very similar to the Leafs-Senators game, as James Reimer got a shutout and Nazem Kadri got a hat trick. The Leafs and Senators game was also 4-0.
Leafs-Senators:
-Nazem Kadri Hatty
-James Reimer Shutout
4-0 Result
Oilers-Canucks:
-Taylor Hall hatty
-Devan Dubynk shutout
4-0 Result
Three Canadian goalies each got shutouts yesterday, as Canadiens' Carey Price got one vs Rangers, Leafs' James Reimer vs Senators, and Oilers' Devan Dubynk vs Canucks.
Great Canadian night last night! :D :D :D
