TRADECENTRE 2013: It wasn't too long until the Calgary Flames traded another veteran in their rebuilding of 2013. Just last week Jarome Iginla was traded to Pittsburgh, and just today D Jay Bouwmeester went to the St. Louis Blues for a 2013 1st Round Pick and two prospects, a goalie and a defenseman.
A couple days ago, the Blues did trade for D Jordan Leopold, from the Buffalo Sabres. An underrated defenseman, Leopold would serve on the second line of Defenseman.
Then 2 days later, the Blues trade for Flames' vet Boumeester. Bouwmeester served as trade bait for the past few weeks. It was obvious he would get traded, but it almost looked like he would go to the Maple Leafs, to help out D Dion Phaneuf on the blue line.
I really thought Bouwmeester would go to Toronto.
Another trade also went down this evening: Sabres D Robyn Regehr to the Los Angeles Kings, for two 2nd round picks.
